Civitella in Val di Chiana is a characteristic medieval village that stands on the top of a hill a few kilometers from Arezzo.
This municipality is characterized by a very heterogeneous morphology of the territory, and in fact it is divided into two distinct areas: the low mountain area covered with woods that hosts Civitella itself, and the flat one, in which the most populated centers such as Badia al Pino, Pieve al Toppo and Viciomaggio.
Its dominant position, at 525 meters above sea level, has made it historically important for the garrison of the city of Arezzo and central Italy in general.
