The Village of Farnese was originally a location call Sorgenti della Nova dating back to the Bronze Age. The founder village was the Farnese family with Prince Ranuccio Farnese (1100 Century A.D.). The last descendent of the family was Elisabeth Farnese who became Elisabeth Queen of Spain in 1700. Another member of the family was Alexander who became Pope Paul III. In 1500.
Farnese is located at 343 meters above sea level and is 12 Km from Lake Bolsena, 45 minutes drive from Saturnia Spa, 35 minutes from the coast and 60 Km. from the Ski Resort of Mount Amiata. Fiumicino airport is 1 hour by car. Rome 110 Km. 5 Km from the Province of Grosseto (Tuscany). In the Summer there are various festivals and markets. The temperature is very mild from April to the end of November.
